Diploma in Landscape Horticulture

The Diploma in Landscape Horticulture is a two-year program that prepares graduates to use green (horticultural) solutions to create liveable environments that respond to climate change. You will learn design fundamentals, horticultural principles, construction and communication techniques needed to create innovative landscape solutions. Graduates understand the role of plants in creating resilient, sustainable ecosystems and are well grounded in planting design. The curriculum emphasizes landscape naturalization, ecological and functional design, and establishing and maintaining green infrastructure (plantings) in urban, rural, and natural landscapes. Diploma students study together with Bachelor of Landscape Architecture students to promote collaboration among emerging professionals on related career paths.

Landscape horticulture (green infrastructure) is now widely recognized as a necessary part of the response to climate change. Graduates are well positioned for roles in design-build landscape firms, municipal parks departments and institutional landscape operations.

Eligible graduates can continue their studies for two years to earn either the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture or Bachelor of Technology – Small Business Management degree.
