Overview:

The Finance Certificate is designed to enable students to develop practical and relevant skills and knowledge for the financial services workplace. Through the certificate, students will advance critical analysis and decision-making skills, and deepen their ability to have positive impact in managerial and client service roles.

Students who complete the certificate will:

1) Develop a holistic understanding of the role of finance in organizations;
2) Understand the range of tools and tactics used to implement financial strategies;
3) Develop a diversified knowledge base in order to develop as a financial professional in a rapidly changing environment; and
4) Prepare the student for a senior strategic financial role such as Chief Financial Officer.

Admission Requirements / Eligibility:

Students must be registered in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Dalhousie University.

Please note in-progress students who have completed a cross-listed course equivalent to one listed above may have that course count towards the certificate requirements.

Application of Credit Hours Towards Other Degree Requirements:

Courses completed as part of this certificate may be double-counted towards the requirements of the MBA degree, subject to approval by the student’s supervisor and graduate coordinator in their primary degree program. Courses not approved to count towards the primary degree requirements will result in additional tuition fees on a per-course fee basis.
