This course will introduce students to the various styles of guitar playing from classical to jazz to folk. The history of the instrument (including lute and other related plucked instruments) and an examination of the key styles and performers will be covered. Practical instruction will be provided in this course, so a guitar will be necessary. Practical instruction will attempt to accommodate the various skill levels of the students enrolled.SPECIAL NOTE: This course is for non-music majors and cannot be counted toward a music degree.
