This class is an introduction to the International Phonetic Alphabet and lyric diction as applied to the field of singing. Through study of the International Phonetic Alphabet, the course explores how this tool can be the foundation for pronouncing all languages. This foundation is then related to the sung pronunciation of vocal music, with a focus on classical and Contemporary Commercial Music styles. (Note: This course cannot satisfy a language requirement in a program.)
