CREDIT HOURS: 6
This course introduces students to the processes and practices of the social work profession including a range of beginning practice skills, social work values and ethics, the varied contexts of social work practice, and the roles and responsibilities of professional social workers. This multi-faceted course may include course room instruction, simulations, seminars, workshops, contact with practicing social workers, visits to various social service agencies, and exposure to "first voice" experiences. This course requires 40 hours of self-directed learning activity time to be completed outside regularly scheduled class time.

NOTES: Credit can only be given for this course if X and Y are completed in consecutive terms and partial credit cannot be given for a single term.
