**Overview**: Data Analytics is an interdisciplinary field aimed at extracting knowledge from data of various forms. The techniques of data analytics draw heavily from the fields of statistics, computer science, and mathematics. Students completing the certificate will understand distinctions among data, information and knowledge, will be able to use the Structured Query Language (SQL) to manipulate relational databases, the R programming language to model data using a variety of machine learning and statistical models, and will able to assess the performance of predictive models.

**Admission to Certificate**

To enrol in the *Certificate in Data Analytics*, students must declare the certificate through Dal Online (https://dalonline.dal.ca>Web for Students > Admissions > Declare Major/Minor/Certificate), and notify the Certificate Coordinator by email.

To graduate with the Certificate, students must apply to Graduate with a Certificate at the time they apply to graduate from their degree program.
