Ngena Bernard Memorial Dalhousie TYP Social Work Bursary
To assist full and part-time African Canadian students who are graduates of the Dalhousie University Transition Year Program (TYP), and are attending Dalhousie School of Social Work or doing the pre-requisite courses to study towards a Social Work degree.

Djokic Family Prize for Excellence in Performance
Lynn Stodola and Philippe Djokic were long-standing faculty members of the Dalhousie Music Department. They were inspired by the talent and dedication of students and wish to recognize and encourage students to strive for excellence. The prize recognizes an instrumental or voice student at the Fountain School of Performing Arts who demonstrates exceptional musical talent with the potential for a professional career. The prize is awarded at the annual Concerto Night concert.
Eligibility: Students enrolled in Music programs are considered based on an audition to perform at Concerto Night.

Ian Perry-Berger Instrument Award
Established in memory of much loved son, Ian, to continue his generosity of spirit by helping to enrich the lives of music students and aid them in reaching their ultimate potential. The award is intended to offset the cost of purchase of an instrument needed for study, or to offset the costs of instrument repairs or supplies.

Ferne Downey Scholarship in Acting
This scholarship was created to honour Dalhousie graduate and long-serving ACTRA president Ferne Downey on her receipt of an honorary degree from Dalhousie University in June 2017. To be considered , students must demonstrate exceptional artistic merit and a commitment to performing arts in the community.
Eligibility: Students entering the third or fourth year of the Acting Program at the Fountain School of Performing Arts who maintain a GPA of 3.0.

Sociology & Social Anthropology Bursary for African NS & Mi'kmaq Students
The Sociology and Social Anthropology Bursary for African Nova Scotian and Mi'kmaq Students was created through the generosity of the faculty and staff in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology (SOSA). The bursary is intended to alleviate the financial difficulties of African Nova Scotian or Mi'kmaq undergraduate students who have declared themselves as SOSA majors.
Eligibility: Available to African Nova Scotian and Mi'kmaq students enrolled as SOSA majors in their third of fourth year of study. Must have graduated from a Nova Scotia high school, demonstrate financial need, and have applied to the Canadian or Provincial Government Student loan program.

FSPA Music Bursary for Black and Indigenous Students
Created through the generosity of members of the faculty and staff of the Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA), the FSPA Music Bursary for Black and Indigenous Students is intended to relieve financial difficulties and encourage diversity and student success in Music degree programs.
Eligibility: Available to Black and Indigenous undergraduate students that demonstrate financial need enrolled in a Music degree program in the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Jay/MacLellan Music Competition Award
To support students in the Fountain School of Performing Arts (Music) who demonstrate a high level of artistic performance and require support to attend a regional ,national, or international music competition or program that is endorsed by the Fountain School of Performing Arts. Eligible recipients will demonstrate a high level of academic performance (measured by GPA), involvement in extracurricular activities and/or demonstration of leadership skills. Recipients are eligible to reapply for the award in subsequent years of study.

Social Anthropology Prize
To recognize excellence by providing an annual prize to a top undergraduate student majoring in Social Anthropology.
Eligibility: Recipient must be enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, graduating with Honours majoring in Social Anthropology. Recipient will have submitted the best honours thesis or research project. The annual prize will be $500 to be awarded at convocation.

The James H. Aitchison Award
In 1979, colleagues of Dr. J. H. Aitchison established a fund from which an annual prize would be awarded in recognition of the best undergraduate honours essay. The fund was established to honour Professor Aitchison who was instrumental in founding the Department.

John David and Ellen Matheson Allen Endowment Fund
The bursaries to be known as John David and Ellen Matheson Allen bursaries are in memory of John David Allen and his wife, Ellen Margaret Allen, both graduates of the Department of Education of the University. In the selection of the recipients of the bursaries, priority is to be given to First Nations, but where no such persons apply, the bursaries are to be given to other applicants as determined by the appropriate office of the University.
Eligibility: Available to students in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science programs at Dalhousie. Applicants will have demonstrated financial need and have satisfactory academic standing.

Prix de l’Alliance française
An annual prize awarded to a third or fourth year student who has achieved outstanding results in the study of French language and literature. Suitable candidates are proposed by the Department before March 15. This award is open to students who have demonstrated excellence in their studies while showing interest in both the French language and in Francophone culture. The award is bestowed at an official ceremony in the spring. The Alliance française is an internationally renowned non-profit organization with a mission to promote French language and culture.

Prix de l’Ambassadeur de Suisse au Canada
A book prize, the gift of the Ambassador of Switzerland in Canada, is awarded to a graduating student who has won distinction by their work in the French language. This award is conferred at a Departmental ceremony in the spring.

Aramark Leadership Award
This award provides scholarships for returning undergraduate students at Dalhousie registered in the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Arts and Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Professions, Management, Science, or the Diploma of Dental Hygiene who show leadership in the community. Eligible students must have been full-time Dalhousie students during the previous academic year, be currently registered as a full-time undergraduate student, be in good academic standing, and demonstrate involvement and dedication to the Dalhousie community through leadership, citizenship and/or sportsmanship. Helen Archibald Memorial Bursary
To provide one or more bursaries for undergraduate students from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with preference given to students from Richmond County.

The Eva and David Ashkins Memorial Bursary
The donors established this fund for the purpose of assisting pupils who have matriculated from selected high schools to enter Dalhousie. These high schools are (first) North Queen’s Rural High School or Bridgewater High School, and (secondly) other high schools in the province of Nova Scotia. The recipient may be considered in subsequent years for further assistance.
