Physics and Atmospheric Science Bursary for Black/African Canadian or Aboriginal Students
This fund was created through the generosity of the faculty and staff of the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science. The bursary is intended to alleviate financial difficulties improving retention and student success for Black Canadian and Aboriginal students who have declared themselves as Physics majors and honours students.
Eligibility: Available to Black and Aboriginal undergraduate students enrolled in a Physics major or honours. Students will have demonstrated financial need.

Ngena Bernard Memorial Dalhousie TYP Social Work Bursary
To assist full and part-time African Canadian students who are graduates of the Dalhousie University Transition Year Program (TYP), and are attending Dalhousie School of Social Work or doing the pre-requisite courses to study towards a Social Work degree.

NanaSunbeam Bursary
This bursary was created by Njillan Forbes in honour of her late mother, Nana. Nana dedicated her life to the empowerment of women and children. She believed in the right of all children to a good education and to limitless dreams. The purpose of the bursary is to help female students who demonstrate financial need and are in good academic standing.
Eligibility: Available to a full-time undergraduate female student in 2nd year. The student will have demonstrated financial need.

Chemistry Bursary for Black/African Canadian or Indigenous Students
Created through the generosity of members of the faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry, the Chemistry Bursary for Black/African Canadian or Indigenous Students is intended to alleviate financial difficulties and encourage student success in Chemistry.
Eligibility: Eligibility Available to undergraduate students majoring in Chemistry who demonstrate financial need and who self-identify as Black/African Canadian or Indigenous.

The Dr. Jean Cooley Conference Participation Grant
This grant provides funding for a female analytical chemistry student to attend a specialized technical conferences, meeting, or symposia.
Eligibility: Open to female students, with a preference to students completing graduate-level studies in analytical chemistry. Recipients will be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, with a with preference to students from the Maritime Provinces and students who have received the Dr. Jean Cooley Graduate Fellowship in Analytical Chemistry.

The Aldous Prize

John David and Ellen Matheson Allen Endowment Fund
The bursaries to be known as John David and Ellen Matheson Allen bursaries are in memory of John David Allen and his wife, Ellen Margaret Allen, both graduates of the Department of Education of the University. In the selection of the recipients of the bursaries, priority is to be given to First Nations, but where no such persons apply, the bursaries are to be given to other applicants as determined by the appropriate office of the University.
Eligibility: Available to students in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science programs at Dalhousie. Applicants will have demonstrated financial need and have satisfactory academic standing.

The Anonymous Economics Prize

Aramark Leadership Award
This award provides scholarships for returning undergraduate students at Dalhousie registered in the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Arts and Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Professions, Management, Science, or the Diploma of Dental Hygiene who show leadership in the community. Eligible students must have been full-time Dalhousie students during the previous academic year, be currently registered as a full-time undergraduate student, be in good academic standing, and demonstrate involvement and dedication to the Dalhousie community through leadership, citizenship and/or sportsmanship. The Dr. William J. Archibald Prize in Physics
An annual prize will be awarded to a student who is considered by the Physics Department to be the most promising among those entering a second year Honours Physics program with first class standing.

The Eva and David Ashkins Memorial Bursary
The donors established this fund for the purpose of assisting pupils who have matriculated from selected high schools to enter Dalhousie. These high schools are (first) North Queen’s Rural High School or Bridgewater High School, and (secondly) other high schools in the province of Nova Scotia. The recipient may be considered in subsequent years for further assistance.

A trust from the estate of Helen Mary and Earl Atkins to provide bursaries for those who might other wise be unable to attend university.

Avery Prize
This prize, bequeathed by J. F. Avery, MD, will be awarded on graduation to the student standing highest among graduates of the general degree program. The recipient cannot have received the Governor General’s Silver Medal or University Silver Medal. For the aforementioned medals and prize, a student who is completing a second Dalhousie degree will have only those courses required for a second degree used when calculating their cumulative average. In addition, any disciplinary action by the Senate Discipline Committee shall be deemed sufficient cause for any student to be ineligible. The David Barlow Memorial Award
The family, friends, and classmates of David Barlow established in 1984 an endowment fund to provide an annual prize in his memory. The Dawson Geology Club, in consultation with the Departmental Chairman, will select a student in second year Earth Sciences who has demonstrated both a good academic record and leadership qualities.
