Engineering Dr. Stewart R. Keddy Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Stewart Keddy graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1967. He credited the AC as giving him a strong academic start. This award is in his honor and recognizes the academic skill of a student interested in agriculture.

Eligibility: This award is for students enrolled in the Faculty of Agriculture who are studying on a full-time basis. Students must be in their second year (or later) of an undergraduate program (including technical or degree programs). They will have strong academic standing and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student who attended high school in the Annapolis Valley.

CMM & PHP Natural Resource Bursary
The purpose of the CMM & PHP Natural Resource Bursary is to encourage First Nation/Aboriginal student interest in the environment and natural resource stewardship. PHP, along with CMM has recognized the need to support students in their endeavors to protect the environment and its resources.

Eligibility: Students enrolled full time at the Faculty of Agriculture. Preference is given for a student who demonstrates an interest in environmental protection or natural resource sustainability.

Friends of Alex Taylor Memorial Award
To honour the memory of Alexander Taylor, the Friends of Alex Taylor Memorial Award will provide an annual award to a student with an interest in plant science and its relation to sustainability.

Eligibility: A full or part-time student enrolled in an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Agriculture in their second, third or fourth year, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to students that have taken courses related to plant science or agriculture and have demonstrated financial need.

Valacta Dairy Scholarship
Valacta, the dairy production centre of expertise for Quebec and Atlantic Canada, offers the Valacta Dairy Scholarship which recognizes and supports students with a demonstrated interest in the dairy industry.

Eligibility: Available to one student enrolled in an undergraduate or diploma program at the Faculty of Agriculture that demonstrates a genuine interest in the dairy industry by program, course, or project work.

Joyce Family Foundation Agricultural Bursary (Renewable)
The Joyce Family Foundation Agricultural Bursaries were established to create an endowed bursary program to ensure students with financial barriers are able to access and succeed at the Faculty of Agriculture. Recipients are encouraged to participate in a mentorship program or type of activity.

Eligibility: Must be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant, enrolled in any year of undergraduate study at the Faculty of Agriculture, has demonstrated financial need, and be in good academic standing.

PY Hamilton Scholarship
Peter Y. Hamilton, Class of 1944 and Professor Emeritus, attended the former Nova Scotia Agricultural College, and later returned as Registrar in 1973. This scholarship has been established in his memory to reward scholarly excellence.

Eligibility: Available to Canadian citizens enrolled in any program in the Faculty of Agriculture on a full-time basis in their second year of study or later who have achieved an average of 80% in the previous year of study.

Faculty of Agriculture Alumni Family Scholarships
In celebration of the fact that many students at the Faculty of Agriculture are family members of AC Alumni, the Alumni Association decided to establish a Family Bursary for the first time in 2008. Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (Atlantic Division) Scholarship
The Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (Atlantic) Scholarship was established in 1989 for a student who successfully completes their second year of B.Sc. (Agr.) program. The Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC) is the national trade association of the livestock and poultry feed industry. The 170 members include feed and ingredient manufacturers and distributors, as well as suppliers of a wide range of goods and services to the feed industry. Taken together, ANAC’s membership represents 90 percent of commercial feed manufactured in Canada.

Eligibility: Available to students entering third year of the Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) program who have demonstrated leadership in student and community affairs, strong academic performance, and who are not receiving other scholarships of higher value.

Ralph H. Armstrong Memorial Award
Established in memory of Ralph Armstrong of North Kingston, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. Ralph was well known for his breeding of dual-purpose Shorthorns and marketing of livestock. His prize Shorthorns had been exhibited under the Brookmont Farms name for more than 30 years at Exhibitions throughout Nova Scotia, the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, and in the 1980 World Shorthorn congress in Calgary. Mr. Armstrong was an honoured member, Secretary and Past President of the Nova Scotia Shorthorn Association, Vice President of the Annapolis County Exhibition, Past Director of the Atlantic Winter Fair and Past Director of the Maritime Shorthorn Association.

Eligibility: Available to former or current 4-H club members from Kings or Annapolis Counties in Nova Scotia who have completed their first year of study in any undergraduate program at the Faculty of Agriculture. Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show Scholarship
The Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show is an event that is held bi-annually that mainly focuses on the newest, innovative ideas in the agricultural industry. Farming has changed dramatically over the last few decades. New farming ventures are becoming increasingly popular, from large tract farms that are operated by multi-nationals, to small individual bed plots. According to The Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show, “innovation has always been the most powerful tool in a farmer’s tool box and will continue to be so into the future.”

Eligibility: Available to students from Atlantic Canada who have completed at least one year in the Diploma of Engineering or Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) in Integrated Environmental Management program at the Faculty of Agriculture. Atlantic Land Improvement Contractors Association Award
The Atlantic Land Improvement Contractors Association Bursary was created by ALICA for engineering students with a keen interest in soil, water and land improvement. ALICA acknowledges that the cost of tuition is becoming increasingly high which makes it difficult for many students to attend University. The Board of Directors voted to begin a scholarship fund in 1990 and the scholarship has been active and helping students with their post-secondary education ever since.

Eligibility: Available to students in the Diploma of Engineering program in the Faculty of Agriculture with a demonstrated ability and interest in soil, water, and land improvement.

Atlantic Poultry Incorporated Scholarship
The Atlantic Poultry Incorporated Scholarship was created in 2012. API (formerly ACA Co-operative Limited) has had many changes over the years. Most recently becoming incorporated in March 2012 and then in 2013 growing the company with the purchase of Clarks Chick Hatchery in New Brunswick and Island Chick Hatchery in Newfoundland.

Eligibility: Awarded to a student enrolled in the BSc(Agr) degree, with preference to a student pursuing an Animal Science major. The recipient will have graduated from a high school in Atlantic Canada, and demonstrate strong academic performance and a career interest in poultry.

Atlantic Poultry Conference Award
The Atlantic Poultry Conference is the key meeting place for producers and service providers to gather and discuss and share their news, the Conference is held once per year. Speakers who attend the Conference address a number of topics that cover: ventilation, energy, health, reducing feed costs, transportation, eggs, chickens and turkeys.

Eligibility: Awarded to a student whose course and project work reflect an interest in poultry. Preference will be given to final year students in the BSc(Agr) program who have either completed or have plans to complete a poultry-related research project in RESM 4002 and RESM 4003. This scholarship is awarded in odd years.

Avery Prize
This prize, bequeathed by J. F. Avery, MD, will be awarded on graduation to the student standing highest among graduates of the general degree program. The recipient cannot have received the Governor General’s Silver Medal or University Silver Medal. For the aforementioned medals and prize, a student who is completing a second Dalhousie degree will have only those courses required for a second degree used when calculating their cumulative average. In addition, any disciplinary action by the Senate Discipline Committee shall be deemed sufficient cause for any student to be ineligible. Paul Babineau Memorial Scholarship
The Paul Babineau Memorial Scholarship was established by the Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show in memory of Paul, a former Director of the Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show. Paul was the owner and operator of Babineau Equipment Ltd, he was a 4-Wheeler enthusiast, and a director with the Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show.

Eligibility: Available to students from Atlantic Canada who have completed at least one year in the Diploma of Engineering or Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) Integrated Environmental Managament programs in the Faculty of Agriculture. Dr. Roger S. Bacon Scholarship in Agriculture
Dr. Roger S. Bacon was a dairy farmer and blueberry producer from Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. He was also a long standing MLA from this area. During his political career, he was a well-respected and long serving Minister of Agriculture and for a time Premier of Nova Scotia. In keeping with his lifetime interest and service to Agriculture, Dr. Bacon has made a donation to establish an endowed fund to support a new scholarship at the Faculty of Agriculture.

Eligibility: Awarded to a Nova Scotia student entering the final year of any program at the Faculty of Agriculture who has plans to pursue a long term career in agriculture. Selection criteria include career plans, academic performance and financial need.

Bible Hill Garden Club Scholarship
The Bible Hill Garden Club, originally referred to as Hillcrest Landscape Club was first organized in January of 1947. The group was created to promote the improvement of home grounds, assist in the beautification of community grounds, local parks and schools. Over the years, the group has gained popularity and has grown from 17 members to over 60, mostly women who range in age of 50-60. The group contributes to the Faculty of Agriculture through help supporting students with the bursary they have created.

Eligibility: Available to current students who are permanent residents of the Truro area, in any undergraduate program at the Faculty of Agriculture, with preference given to students in at least the second year of study in Horticulture, preferably a landscape program. Selection criteria include academic performance and financial need.
