Architecture Co-op
Faculty of Architecture and Planning, School of Architecture
Since 1970, the School of Architecture has offered Co-operative Education (Co-op) as a critical element of the professional degree program. Architecture Co-op includes a four-month work term (500 hours) in the Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies (BEDS) and, for students who continue, an eight-month work term (1000 hours) within the Master of Architecture. The Architecture Co-op program provides students with practical experience in building design and responsible professional practice. At least one work term must be under the supervision of a Licensed Architect.
Co-op work terms are mandatory components for both the Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies and Master of Architecture programs. Students are required to complete a co-op orientation course (ARCH 8890.00 / ARCH 9890.00) prior to initiating their job search. Students with questions or requiring support are encouraged to contact their WIL Co-op Coordinator as well as the School of Architecture Co-op Instructor as they prepare and search for their Co-op experiences.
