Certificate in Managing Data and Information
Eligibility: The Certificate is open to any Dalhousie undergraduate student. Non-degree Dalhousie students may qualify for the Certificate if they fulfill all course requirements at Dalhousie.
Overview: The Managing Data and Information Certificate will provide students with a broader understanding of how data can be used to address diverse, real-world problems in multiple sectors and disciplines. It will prepare students to use data to inform evidence-based decision making, and provide a broader understanding of current trends of information production. Students will understand the importance of information management in supporting decision-making, and be prepared to effectively leverage information systems to meet business needs.
Admission to Certificate
To enrol in the Certificate, student must declare the Certificate through Dal Online (https://dalonline.dal.ca>Web for Students>Student Records>Declare Major/Minor/Certificate).
Certificate requirements
9 credit hours:
MGMT 2605 Working with Data*
MGMT 3601 Information in a Networked World
MGMT 3511 Management Information Systems*
*Students will be required to complete MGMT 1302.03 before registering for these courses.
All required courses for the Certificate must be completed at Dalhousie. Students must obtain a minimum grade of (B-) for all courses counted toward the Certificate.
To graduate with the Certificate, students must apply to graduate with a Certificate per the timelines determined by the Registrar's Office.
