Certificate in Structural Engineering

The Structural Engineering Certificate will provide students enrolled in the Civil Engineering Program at Dalhousie University the opportunity to gain formal recognition of their choice of electives related to the specific area. Students will gain specialty knowledge in this sub-discipline and receive a certificate upon graduation that will allow them to easily demonstrate to potential employers both competence and breadth in this sub-discipline.

Certificate Requirements:

Students must complete the following courses:
•    CIVL 4550.03: Timber Design
•    CIVL 4542.03: Applications of Finite Element Method in Structural Engineering
•    CIVL 4525.03: Steel Structures
•    CIVL 4560.03: Special Topics in Structural Systems
•    CIVL 4401.03: Senior Project I (structural-based project required)
•    CIVL 4402.03: Senior Project II (structural-based project required)

Students must complete the Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree requirements to be eligible for the certificate.
