Program Overview

The School of Physiotherapy offers a MScPT/MScRRPT combined program for eligible students with an interest in entry-to-practice Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Research. This degree combination allows students the opportunity to obtain both degrees: MSc (Physiotherapy) and MSc (Rehabilitation Research-Physiotherapy) in a period of 40 months.

During the first year of combined program study, students complete the MScRRPT coursework, PHYT5202 and up to one other designated course from the MScPT requirements (e.g. PHYT5460),  and complete their MScRRPT thesis proposal.  In year 2 of the combined program, coursework shifts to remaining MScPT courses, continuing for a period of 28 months while concurrent MScRRPT thesis work is being completed. Following the successful completion of all MScRRPT requirements including defense of the MScRRPT thesis,  and successful completion of the MScPT entry-to-practice program requirements, students are awarded each respective degree as part of the combined program.

Graduates may hold careers in clinical practice, clinical research, academia and research related inquiry through PhD studies. Students must be admitted into both the MSc (Physiotherapy) and MSc (Physiotherapy-Rehabilitation Research) programs to be eligible for acceptance into the combined program. Please see information pertaining to these two programs for further information.
