Decision-making is a critical management function; it can be very difficult for an enterprise to recover from bad decisions. This course provides students an opportunity to learn how decision situations can be approached scientifically, and how managerial experiences and judgement can be used to make a sound decision. The course uses a combination of data and models and includes topics such as spreadsheet modelling using Excel, optimization (linear programming) and simulations with a focus on business applications in finance, marketing, operations and general management. Cases are used to illustrate the main topics.
