This course introduces learners to Black Canadian communities, particularly the history and unique experiences of African Nova Scotians. Learners will explore the historical and generational trauma and impacts of racism and discrimination on Black Canadians’ health and wellness, through analysis of the social/structural determinants of health and topics of access, mental health, and chronic disease.
