MECH 4665 Finite Element Methods I

This course will introduce the finite-element method for analyzing the static response of both mechanical and thermomechanical systems. Various elements' formulations (i.e., rods, beams, CST, and 2D and 3D isoparametric elements) will be covered. Practical modelling aspects will be emphasized using a widely-used commercial finite-element software. The students will learn various modeling techniques and best practice through assignments.
