This course provides a sociological and criminological examination of the evolution of corrections and punishment in North America with a focus on the Canadian landscape. It will include the historical development, organization, and administration of correctional institutions, as well as the rehabilitation/treatment and restorative justice models. Students will also learn some of the contemporary issues regarding Canadian corrections and understand how various social structures impact theses issues. Approved with Law, Justice, and Society programs.
PREREQUISITES: One 1000 level SOSA course or FYP.
