This is a survey course of Canadian dress that explores the cultural meaning of dress from the 17th century to the 20th century. The concentration in this course has its emphasis on Canadian indigenous clothing and major cultural groups that have left their imprint on contemporary fashion. Placing dress in its context will include topics on related period history, textiles, and defining a methodology of researching and understanding dress.
