For students with some background in French, for example grade 11-12 core French (online Placement Test required: www.dal.ca/frenchtest), or follows
FREN 1005 (for students who have achieved a final grade of B+ or above) or
FREN 1007.03
/FREN 1008.03 (final grade of B+ or above in FREN 1008). Focusing on the study of more advanced grammatical structures with an introduction to grammatical analysis, this course also aims to further develop the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Selected readings will lead to the application of structures being studied and to vocabulary enrichment. A final grade of B or above in this course leads to all second-year French courses. NOTES: Credit can only be given for this course if X and Y are completed in consecutive terms and partial credit cannot be given for a single term.
