The role of human resource management (HRM) and administration are analyzed, along with the major aspects: job analysis, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, training, performance appraisal, compensation, labour relations, and safety and health. Knowledge of HRM processes is supplemented by applying analytical skill to human resource problems and understanding HRM’s strategic role and how HRM integrates with many other functions required in the organization. This course builds upon the skill and knowledge acquired in COMM 2303.03. Class discussions and assignments focus on applying HRM skills to various work environments. The course will be structured around a combination of lectures, student presentations, group work, in-class discussions, and experiential exercises.
