Master of Science (MSc) - Advanced Epidemiology CH&E 6020   Advanced Epidemiology
CREDIT HOURS: 3
This course focuses on the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, and communication of epidemiologic studies. The emphasis will be on non-experimental, or observational (cohort, case-control) studies. Topics for general discussion will include study designs, subject selection, measurement issues pertaining to ascertainment of exposure and outcome, design issues such as stratification and matching, and methodological issues such as confounding, effect modification, misclassification, and sources of bias. Data analyses will emphasize the practical application of statistical concepts: estimating associations and effect sizes, multivariable modelling, logistic regression, and time-to-event analysis. Additional topics will include the assessment of the totality of available data from observational studies using systematic review and meta-analysis. Students are required to attend weekly Epidemiology/Biostatistics Lab.
