Course Descriptions - Chemical Engineering Series - Thermo-Fluid Engineering I
ENGI 2102 Thermo-Fluid Engineering I
CREDIT HOURS: 3
This courses introduces thermodynamics and fluid mechanics in an integrated manner. A unified approach to energy transfer in thermal and mechanical systems is presented. The course covers properties of fluids with a focus on property tables. It covers work, heat and the basic laws of thermodynamics for closed and open steady state systems through the application of control volume techniques in engineering problems. Power systems are introduced through the study of the basic Rankine and Brayton cycles.
