This course deals with the emerging green infrastructure tool of ecohydrology for water resource protection. The emphasis is on best management practices (BMPs) that combine environmental engineering and landscape design to mitigate against damage caused by urban and rural development. Topics to be covered include: waterscape ecology, non-point source pollution, soil erosion, and the BMPs of buffer strips., stormwater treatment wetlands, runoff bioswales, rain gardens, and green ecoroofs in Canadian and international settings.
