Students will examine the structure of the agri-food industry and the context in which individual enterprises operate. The course will provide an overview of basic marketing principles and then discuss these principles in the context of the marketing of agricultural commodities. The trade and policy issues affecting the marketing and selling of agricultural products will be examined. The various government and industry organizations influencing the regulation and sale of agricultural products will be studied. Finally, students will identify key issues in decision-making and managing risk on farms and other agricultural enterprises.
