Apparently a reaction against the modern, from Goethe to Hegel, Romanticism manages to eclipse almost everything else and define some six decades of German philosophy and literature in the writings of Herder, Goethe, Schiller, Novalis, A.W. and Friedrich Schlegel, Eichendorff, Hölderlin, Schelling, Hegel, Büchner.
