MARI 4005 Coral Reefs and Environmental Change with Field Trip

Coral reefs are iconic marine ecosystems both biologically and economically. This class introduces students to the biology of both tropical and cold-water corals, key characteristics of their abiotic environments, human impacts at both local and global scales, and management options for sustainable resource use and the the protection of biodiversity. This course runs parallel with
ENVS 4003 but includes the addition of a 5-day field trip to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science.

FORMAT COMMENTS: This course will take place at the same time with ENVS/
MARI 4003 with the exception of the field trip to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science which will run during the Fall study break. Students will be responsible for paying an auxiliary fee.
PREREQUISITES: Chem 1011/Chem 1012 and Biol 2060. Also restricted to students with 6 credit hours in Environmental Science or Biology or Marine Biology at or above the 3000 level. Permission of Instructor Required
