This course gives students a theoretical and practical introduction to journalism as it's practised today. In the Thinking component, students examine the principles and evolution of journalism and its role in society. The Writing part of the course helps students hone the skills of simple, tight, bright journalistic writing. Students will complete frequent writing assignments, read news with a critical eye and work in small groups with professional journalistic instructors.
NOTES: This course satisfies one half of the Writing Requirement when taken in combination with JOUR 1003.
