Welcome - Indigenous Business Studies COMM 3905   Indigenous Business Studies
CREDIT HOURS: 3
Over 370 million Indigenous people are living in over 70 countries (United Nations, 2019), and the Indigenous populations in Canada are growing. An understanding of Indigenous business has become essential to the business professions. Highly relevant to all Canadians, including the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit of present-day Canada and Mi’kma’ki and beyond, this course addresses the impacts that history and policy have had on Indigenous business relations. Through an exploration of Indigenous ways of knowing and the practice of two-eyed seeing, students will move toward reconciliation through an appreciation of the challenges and successes of Indigenous businesses. The course is open to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
