Students in Environmental, Sustainability and Society Program (ESS) who choose to enroll in Co-operative Education Program (Co-op) OR Work Experience Program (WEP) must register for this course, which orients students to the Dalhousie Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) system. This on-line course for Sustainability Co-op or WEP students is designed to introduce them to aspects of career development and preparation for their work term(s). Course topics focus on self-assessment, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques. Students are provided an overview of employability skills and competencies (graduate attributes) as well as WIL policies and procedures. SUST 8890 is a mandatory component of Co-op/WEP and is prerequisite for initial work term(s) (i.e. SUST 8891 or SUST 8791). SUST 8890 must be completed at least four months prior to the initial work term. The grade is assessed as Pass/Fail.
NOTES: Sustainability Work-Integrated Learning (Co-op and WEP) is available to BA and BSc students with ESS as a Major subject. Students apply in spring of first year (Co-op) or second year (WEP).
