This course explores English as code for humans interacting with machines and each other in the age of AI. We will begin by examining how to approach text and identify intentions & obstacles. With this perspective you will learn to write to language models to help you create effective communication. You will learn prompting techniques, how to critically assess sources, identify bias, and ethically use AI tools. Finally, we will extend these competencies for you to learn to communicate your ideas with more impact. Examples of such work will include job applications and resumes, professional communication, writing for a specific audience and, most importantly, using your own voice.
