COMM 3309 Management Skills Development
CREDIT HOURS: 3
As a professionalization course, students are asked to explore the theories and practices of management with an emphasis on skill development and the application of effective professional practices. Key topic areas include: the functions of management in the workplace, team collaboration and shared leadership, self-management practices, interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution, EDIAD, stakeholder and relationship management. Particular emphasis will be placed on management and leadership theories in practice through in-class exercises and a research project. In class, students will experience a combination of lectures, student presentations, group work, individual work, skill development practice session, in-class discussions, and experiential exercises.

PREREQUISITES:
COMM 2303.03 OR
MGMT 2304.03; and at least third-year standing.
