A core business function, operations management transforms inputs (raw materials, labour, capital, technology, and information) into value-added outputs such as goods and services. This course introduces some of the standard techniques to manage operations in manufacturing and services. Topics include product demand forecasting, productivity analysis, inventory management, workforce scheduling, production planning, project management, quality control and assurance, continuous process improvement, and waiting line models for service operations. Cases and class examples are used to develop problem-solving skills and illustrate concepts and techniques to tackle real-world business issues.
