This course will provide an overview and introduction to the social and structural determinants of health in Canada. The course will include the examination of how health and health inequities are shaped by social and structural determinants of health, including income, employment, education, social exclusion, race, and gender, and the interactions between determinants will be examined. Through class discussions, critical reflections, and written assignments, students will develop an understanding on how the determinants of health influence the health of populations.
